Greetings to all.
My name is Mark Brajevich, wood working enthusiast and maker of Native American Inspired Flutes by CKenMARK Designs. I am a California Native living in Sun City/Menifee Valley, Southern California.
I first began wood working using a scroll saw in 1994 making items from simple silhouette cut outs then progressing to very intricate fretwork rocking chairs, eagles and personalized items.
I credit my wife, Cindy and my daughter, Kenna for being my inspiration and getting me started in woodworking shortly after my father passed away in 1993. My mother Patricia gave me my fathers table saw, band saw and bought me my first scroll saw.
In 1998 I developed a passion for the Native American Inspired Flute when I was at a craft event and my daughter heard a family friend playing a Native American Flute and she asked if I could make one for her. I had no idea where to begin, I purchased a flute kit while on vacation at Knott's Berry Farm in California, and I self taught my self from there I found the haunting sounds and sweet melodies that these type of flutes produce to be very soothing to ones soul.
One of my greatest wood working moments and credits was winning in the Year 2000 Creative Wood Works & Crafts magazine original pattern contest. I won 1st prize in wood carving with my signature relief carved eagle flute. This was a great accomplishment for my wood working and took my wood working to another level in which I began concentrating more on wood carving with my flutes and totems. My creations have also won Blue Ribbons.
